I was asked by the forster care service of Caritas Oberhausen to design a book for children to make the placement process more child-friendly. As part of this I had the pleasure to develop the character design of Paula the panda bear, the mascot of the forster care service and create the illustrations for the book. I also designed the layout and typography.
Teaching children's rights in a playful way
When coming into their new families, it's important for children to know their own rights. Paula helps providing these important informations, explaining what the youth welfare service actually does and what the term "legal guardian" actually means.
With the help of the welcome book, the foster children should become experts in the world of foster families - like Panda Paula. This makes it an indispensable component in the foster child service's welcome program.
